I used to know a few guys from one of the Berkshire stations. Their very black sense of humour when they had dealt with a fatality, took a bit of getting used to ( things that seemed callous to a non fire person, but were a way of getting throughh seeing horrific things that people shouldn't see)
But ey were very well respected in the town and once when I was out at a club with them a guy collapsed and they instantly went form party mode to rescue/professional mode in an nstant, doing CPR and keeping the guys girlfriend calm.
I think it's a shame that Miss Kirkwood didn't do a bit more research when writing her script, it wouldn't of taken much to have changed the things that are glaringly wrong. I was surprised to read that active firemen are on set and act as extras when they're off duty. I suppose none of them felt they had the right to critique the story or script. The first rule of writing is write about what you know, and if you don't know..research, research ,research!
I don't think the LFB need worry about negative feedback towards them, anyone with a gram of intelligence knows what. Fantastic job Firemen do. Our small local part time crew were overwhelmed by the support they got from the public during the Strike some years ago. Any decent human ,appreciates the lengths Fireman go to to save lives.
