As we were watching it, I told my wife "do you think the writer listening to Hazard was the genesis of this movie?"
Glad to see I'm not the only one.
Dude, don't even! That song still gives me nightmares, even though Hazard doesn't have a river and it's population is probably about 75 people, not "1000 fingers pointing right at me"
But Hazard is quite close to where this film takes place.
And the theme of wrongful small town judgement is the same. It makes sense, in towns that small if you just start a rumor about someone it becomes quickly fact in the public's eyes, even if you prove your innocence.
