SPOILERS: Molly said that that's not her family

Molly told Ryder in the river that her family is a actually not her family. Ryder asked whether she is adapted. That point was never resolved. So, what's your take on that?

reply

I think she's exaggerating the fact that she's different from them and doesn't feel close to them.

This. She also says her sister is jealous of the attention she gets. She also seems aware of the family secrets, and expected to keep them. Whether or not the sister knows she's being abused, we don't know.

I'm so confused by everything after reading and watching some interviews. They make it seem like some of it is just normal sexual exploration and some of it is sexual abuse. Or at least it started off innocent with the siblings but the grandma found out and though it was weird so they were shamed for it and that somehow made Keith continue the abuse.

Very confusing messages. Apparently that's the point.

Blame it on old school grandma for perpetuating all the unnecessary taboos - masterbation, puberty, sexual identity. I saw Keith’s wife as a younger version. Her face was astonished at Ryan’s lyrics, but she said pleasantries and moved on. She was outside at the picnic while her daughter Molly was screaming inside. She let her daughters go off with Ryan even though they accused him of the worst.
