Zero chemistry between the captain and Carrie.. I've seen multiple groups do The Sound of Music in the theatre (my ex's favorite movie ever) and every one of them had some chemistry but not this national broadcast...
To me - if you have a romance be a main part of a movie and you can't believe the two care anything for each other - the movie is garbage..
I wouldn't throw the whole enterprise in the garbage (I particularly enjoy Laura Benanti as the Baroness and Audra McDonald as Mother Abbess, for instance), but I agree that there was no romantic chemistry between Maria and the Captain, and the actor playing the Captain was so lacking (no charm, can't sing worth a damn, not much of an actor, judging by this) that I don't understand why in hell he was cast in the role. I really like my idea of John Benjamin Hickey in the role, but of course that u-boat sailed a long time ago.
Just make a movie that makes me care, one way or another. I'm open.
