The Department Q books are wonderful, but I skipped The Absent One because some reviewers mentioned that there were quite a few scenes where animals were tortured and killed. Could someone tell me if that also takes place in the movie?
shareI just watched it last night. There are no such scenes. People are tortured and killed, but not animals. I didn't read the books but the young villains are quite sadistic so it makes sense that they probably started with animals but no such scenes are shown.
shareThanks for letting me know. I liked the first movie and now look forward to seeing this one. If people die in a movie, I'm able to remind myself it's just a movie. Not so with animals and babies.

I share your feelings about animal abuse. I search in the parental advisory link on the IMDB home page of each movie I may view although many don't contain that information. I've found a few that I was able to avoid seeing.
