Three complaints and a question *SPOILERS*

Instead of making two separate threads, just figured I'd combine these thoughts.

I guess question first: How much did you think the town knew about what was going on? I actually liked the movie more (and found it more horrifying) when it seemed like these guys had basically paid off an entire town to ignore their little murder parties and to even help them if things got out of hand. Like when they are telling the woman to keep their victim at her house it seemed like she understood exactly what was going on. And yet they later kill both her and the sheriff. In the earlier scene in the restaurant, I thought that the guy was actually offering the waitress to them as a victim (and not just as a thank-you-sex hook-up). Did anyone else originally think that the town was basically conspiring with them? And if they weren't conspiring with them, how did this town not make a connection between these two out of town guys showing up and then a bunch of people disappearing (so many disappearances that their tourist activity totally dried up!)?

And now complaints!

(1) It just seemed really strange to me that she built that fire. I feel like if you are trying to not be found/seen, building a fire (and going to sleep beside it!) is not the best move. I get that it was chilly, but the men hunting her were in flannels and vests--you couldn't see anyone's breath. Surely she wasn't in danger of frostbite or freezing.

(2) I wish that she'd learned about the sister's murder before she made the decision to hang up on the 911 call. As far as she knows, that other female victim could be being tortured or murdered. And if she can't rescue her, then there are no authorities who know what is going on. I wouldn't have minded the revenge turn of events if it weren't for that other women. It made it feel like a much more selfish decision and if she fails in her revenge then the one guy would be free to keep killing with no one the wiser. She could have at least sent a text or e-mail from the phone to, say, her father or something.

(3) I wish they'd done a little more to make it plausible why she got in the truck. What woman is super nervous about one guy in a van, but then gets in a truck with two strange men? All they would have had to do was pump up the drama a little bit about why it was so important for her not to miss the track meet. If she was really desperate to get there it would have made a lot more sense. Instead it feels more like she goes "Eh, why not?".
