i wish if the author had a further research about muslims

as it seems the author had no idea about prohibition of Muslim women from marrying non-Muslim men, in other words this is forbidden by Islam "Haram"

reply

i think it was his intention to picture a modern american muslim girl.it's not about the whole muslim girls, as u can see most of muslim girls have to wear Hijab(mostly because of their family) but they do alot of things that may be forbidden in islam, they do them anyway cuz they live in a country with different laws and options so it could change their believes either, in this movie america not a muslim country, and as u can see she doesn't want to deport to her original country because she doesn't like there!!! so she is just a typical modern western muslim girl and acts like one.not an actual truly muslim woman that u expect.

reply

There is nothing such a modern muslim girl or an ancient one. The hijab is obligatory on the muslim women as part of the religion and not as a result of compulsion from the family. They can chose not to wear it and be sinful just like they can chose to not follow the relgion. Islam has certain boundaries. No one is forced to be a Muslim but if you are one then some deeds are required from you or you would be sinful as per your own beliefs but then again you can walk out of the religion anytime you want. There is no bondage whatsoever. You accept Islam of free will and therefore you do hijab of free will. Those people who force others to accept Islam or stick by it by for example forcing hijab are extremists. They have nothing to do with the teachings of Islam. I say this again you impose restrictions and refrain from temptations out of your own free will if you accept Islam, there is no forcing anyone to accept it or continue to follow it. Peace.

In the past many wealthier Muslims did not wear hijab at all. The usage skyrocketed after the Iranian revolution.

do you expect american to make a movie about true muslim? they dont need to. Everyone want to go to heaven anyway. Lets pray.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

Welcome to 2015. Muslim women marry non-muslim men every day, just like muslim women also marry or date non-muslim women too.

Maybe it is time that you leave the middle ages behind and get behind a reformation of Islam??

reply

it is not a reformation of Islam, lol. People are at liberty to follow Islam or not. Islam has strict guidelines. As i mentioned in another comment below that raising this point in a movie is idiotic as movies are for entertainment but just to clarify the marriages that you mentioned are not allowed by Islam and if anyone is doing that then he/she is sinful, simple as that. He/she may chose not to follow islam anymore. Islam is like a circle with boundaries and restrictions that you impose on yourself willingly because you believe in hell and heaven but you are at liberty to walk out of the circle anytime you want. If you chose to remain in the circle and not abide by the laws then you are sinful and answerable to God. No human can punish or force you to do an act.

I think people need to change and adapt as they learn new things. Christianity did this in the late 19th century/early 20th century as science advanced.

There are several movies out there with false facts, i don't see you complaining about them. A movie is entertainment, see it that way. If you want to find religion appropriate facts in movies, i believe you are in for a harsh awakening!

i am muslim and i watch movies for entertainment, i suggest you start doing the same...

reply

I wonder on these pseudo muslims who think they have every right to say anything against anything odd. They will come down and open their mouths to bark at anything.

If islam prohibits a muslim lady from doing such then islam also prohibits making films and watching it. Why don't you break your LCDs or smartphones or laptops.

This is nothing to do with islam here in this movie. It was a modern film made in modern era. GROW UP.

and besides i am also muslim and i am from Pakistan. So stop bull$hitting such things and mind your own business.

I live near a large Muslim community.... dearborn MI. And I have dated a couple chaladians and arabic women.... however never a muslim. I have actually only known 2 muslim women that dated non muslims and their familys have shunned them and kicked them out of the house.... and thats here in america. I would imagine it would be worse / more difficult for them in actual mid eastern countries.

reply

Dear Director, Either put Hijab on a Muslim woman or Skirt if you like. But mixing both outfits only shows your ignorance in understanding for other cultures. Its like putting bikini under a NUN and expecting everyone to take it seriously.

reply

nobody gives a *beep* or wants to know islam or muslims or whatever. it s not a documentary, it s a movie.

oh, and if i offended ur fate, i dont give a *beep*.

muslism should grow the f up

reply

I don't think that you are right about the hijab thing. I am Muslim and live in a country where it's the origin of Islam. My family have never had this hijab on. It's completely optional!
However, the marriage thing happened in the movie is unexplained. I thought maybe Sam has became/is Muslim or wanted to become Muslim to protect Amira.

reply

What country are you from?

Also, can a white American convert to Islam and marry a Muslim girl, or would he have to be born into it to be eligible?

.

reply

I'm from Kuwait.
There is no difference for the eligibility to marry a muslim woman whether you are born as muslim "raised as one by muslims family" or converted to Islam. In the end its just the believing part of Islam as your religion and god that matters, and you gotta have to do that In front of her family or witnesses.
