Where is Mark Hamill???

I am not saying that Troy Baker wasn't good, he was fine, but come on! Mark is the voice of Joker just like Kevin is the voice of Batman! (so glad they got Kevin back). Maybe he can't break away with production of the next Star Wars... Still, I would have loved to see Mark and Kevin back together.

Mark Hamill announced that he was retiring from Joker after Arkham City. He's not doing Joker ever again.

reply

Unless they adapt The Killing Joke.

black swan is a horror film

reply

I heard that he retired from the Joker because of the strain on his voice playing him.

reply

I've heard him say "Never say never." However, as far as I know he's done with him. I have also heard that the Joker voice is getting tougher for him to do now that he's older.

reply

Also Troy is getting so good at his Mark Hamill impression that it's actually okay

reply

I heard what he said was that he was most likely done playing the joker, unless he REALLY liked the story. I thought Baker did a good job in Origins, as well as other jobs I heard him do voice work for so I don't have a problem.

and there's no strain from him doing the voice for skips or alvin, sure

Unless they adapt The Killing Joke.

That would be awesome. I'm surprised they haven't adapted it yet.

If you're waiting for Alan Moore to OK an adaptation of The Killing Joke, don't hold your breath.

Alan Moore doesn't own The Killing Joke nor Watchmen which is why there is a Watchmen movie.

remember he also said he was done with joker after arkham asylum

Yeah we'll see about that...

Really he didn't even say that. What he did say was that he doesn't see anything living up to Arkham City and he's not going to do the project unless it's of similar quality. He said pretty much the same thing after Arkham Asylum.

"You're not smiling, Joker. I thought you found death amusing."

reply

There's this little thing called Star Wars he's been working on too in case you haven't heard.

reply

I seriously doubt they'll give his old face much screen time. It'll be like old Spock in new Star Trek films, short but awesome.

reply

I think Troy Baker is a fine replacement for Mark Hamill.

reply

He's been doing the Joker voice for the past 20 plus years, it has to be quite a strain on him by now? Plus with his return to the Star Wars franchise with; Episode VII. Surely he has reason to retire from doing the Joker by now.

he's working on star wars and probably don't got time fa dat

reply

Yeah, it's hard to imagine Joker without Mark Hamill. Whenever I read a comic with Joker in it I hear Mark's voice in my head :).

By the way, I was also a little disappointed that Tara Strong didn't do voice for Harley Quinn.

reply

Troy Baker did a pretty good job. I thought it was Hamill until they rolled credits.

reply

Yes, he did. I don't mind that Mark steps down from the role of Joker. Just saying he was great in it and I'll always remember him for it. On the other hand it can't be good for your carier if you're remembered only for playing two characters - Luke Skywalker and Joker.

^Same here, this!

Troy Baker sounded so much like Mark Hamil's Joker it was uncanny at times, so true. This was way different than John Dimaggio who voiced The Joker in 'Batman: Under The Red Hood' or actor Michael Emerson who voiced The Joker in; 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns'.

Baker sounded like he was copying Hamil's Joker portrayal and was pitch perfect throughout.

While watching the movie I thought to myself, "I thought Hamill retired as the Joker." He was fantastic.

It's good to know that at least the voice of the joker we love will continue past Hamill who has done a fantastic job over the years

reply

Get the *beep* over it!!! So sick of the nostalgic fanboy bullsh**. HE MADE JOKER SOUND LIKE A CHILD MOLESTING UNCLE. GIVE IT UP.

reply

To be honest I thought it WAS Mark Hamill while I was watching it! Only realised it wasn't when I saw the cast list just now.. Troy did an awesome job. And I loved the Jokers makeup, they got it bang on for this movie
