2 Questions about Joker in this film.

1. why were his lips white instead of red like in the comics? was it a glitch or did they want him to have to apply red face paint/lipstick to his lips? In my opinion its like for this movie they made Joker a hybrid of Heath Ledger's Joker (face paint and ditched the Joker's origin in the comics.)and Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson and the comic books take on Joker (the Purple Suit.)

2. in the games that this movie is linked to, did they use the Joker with the "fell into a vat of chemicals got skin bleached, hair turned green and red lips." back story or the "sick and twisted clown" gimmick (dyed his hair green and used white and red paint on his face and lips)?

reply

1. because they want to show Joker a little differently?
2. because that is how was born. In very early Batman comics, he has a hold of the guy who would became The Joker.

well if they wanted to show him differently they wouldn't have used his usual attire right? I know the origin but it puzzled me that if they followed the comic origin to a tee then his lips would be red & he wouldn't have to paint them red. but if they went with the Heath Ledger's Joker wouldn't Joker have his original hair & face color meaning he paints his face white & dyes his hair green as well as paint his lips red?

Sounds about right to me dude.

yeah and I just saw the part of The Dark Knight where the crooks/mob bosses (wasn't sure which term to use) of Gotham were talking about Joker and referred to him as "some guy in a purple suit who paints his face like some clown." BTW did that vest thing he wore under his suit coat ever change in the comics? its green in The Dark Knight I was just wondering if they also changed it from yellow to green just for the movie.

You're focusing on the most minuscule of details that are truly unimportant. Anyway Joker wears lipstick in a lot of comics. A lot. And he's already been seen to apply lipstick in the Arkhamverse.

That is strange. But ever since the Ledger portrayal, more people have been ignoring the acid bath and going with the idea that he wears makeup.

I enjoyed the twist in Endgame but I hate how it cheapened the Jokers origin.

reply

Wasn't he just without lipstick while in the cell? I think I can recall him having red lips the first time he shows up outside his cell.

It's consistent with the Arkham universe it's part of and a few other batman storylines. I can remember in Arkham City there's a cutscene when he is sickly he puts on lipstick. Outside the Arkhamverse the first example that comes the mind the Dark Knight Returns; Joker is pale and has green hair, but wears lipstick.

That's the example I was going to go with.

I am wondering about the same thing too. And I have one more question. With the bomb, was he planning to wipe out the city?
