Space 1999...

Was that an Eagle Transporter they were saving people from on the sea bed?

reply

I thought exactly the same!!

reply

Yes same here. I know that the Weta workshop has a lot of the Anderson's old models so obviously the Eagle provided some inspiration.

reply

I thought it was basically shoved in there as a mere reference or motif, nod or what-have-you to Gerry Anderson and the classic Space 1999 series and so on??!

But i basically don't personally know what an; 'Eagle Transporter' control cockpit module was doing under the sea in this pilot episode of this new show though.

ST4

Name's Django, The D is silent.

I spotted references to three Anderson seres in the first episode of the new Thunderbirds:
* Stingray shown on the TV (albeit backwards)
* the front of the underwater research station looking remarkedly like the front of an Eagle from Space 1999
* the new Thunderbird S (S for Shadow) as a reference to SHADO in UFO

reply

or the s stands for security?

reply

The dialogue said the S was for Shadow at about 41:30 in the episode.

reply

yes yes i know 'now'... was sorta joking around using sarcasm..
