Lightweight

I just watched the first ten episodes and it seems that the Thunderbird craft do not have the sense of "weight" they had in the original series. I think this is partly because the originals were models and also because they were filmed at high speed and then played back at regular speed. This gave them a sense of "reality," that is lacking in the new show. The hydraulics on the new Thunderbird 2, for example, seem to move much too quickly when they raise the craft to release a pod. In the original, this was a slower, more cumbersome process, and therefore more realistic.
I do like some of the take-off shots, however. Especially the zoom on the Thunderbird 3 launch.
Not sure why they couldn't have made the runway for Thunderbird 2 a little wider, rather than go to the expense of rigging all the trees to fold back (I've been wondering that since 1966).

Yes and it fits in with the cartoonish action in some episodes [though it's not as bad as 2 people falling hundreds of feet and landing perfectly upright in the Mole]

and vehicles like the Mole just zip around like they're kids toys.
