Kayo ruined the Fireflash episode .... amongst other things

I'm not totally against the character and don't mind a bit more of an action type female but the way she was on the Fireflash was just so contrived and again more cartoonish action scenes where we're expected to believe a slightly built woman can take on the Hood in a fistfight. and of course it's all then contrived so this new action female [obviously put in the show for some politically correct boxticking] is the heroine of the day and pretty much saves the Fireflash.

the original episode was much more exciting, better paced and more believable. it would have been much better if it was like the original where the planes crew wee trying to land at an airport instead of the really contrived feminist angle deliberately put in there. by all means have her saving another aircraft but not in such an episode with the iconic Fireflash which should have been more like the original episode. like a futuristic version of one of those Airport movies. there was hardly any build up to the story and it was also too short.

This is why the original series WAS and IS better !!!

It's not a "feminist angle" or "politically correct" to have a female character who happens to be competent.

You must have hated Green/Ochre in the Captain Scarlet remake.

As for believability, the original episode relied upon the absurd notion that a plane which has it's landing delayed will kill everyone aboard with radiation poisoning. Just a slight design flaw there.

Maybe the radiation poisoning thing was a flaw but the episode was still much better done and like what this episode should have been ......an Airport disaster movie type thing with a better longer build up. it was like a big event whilst this was like a damp squib.

i'm all for having competent female characters but the whole thing was just so contrived so they could show her saving probably THE most famous vehicle from the show after the Thunderbirds themselves .....especially the way everyone else apart from her was knocked out. just like in Dr who where they put the LGBT characters in the shows most prominent stories. either season openers, enders or ones with the best known monsters such as the Daleks or Cybermen in them.

in the original fireflash episode which was the first episode / pilot, there was a bomb (radiation source) on the plane which was rigged to go off upon landing, so virgil using 2 remote elavation rigs (whislt driving a third) had the plane land on him/them.

and in the originals i forget which episodes but the ladies got in a few scrapes and they had to do some stuff to help.

Actually despite what Mr Zurkon says the thing about the radiation maybe wasn't so absurd after all. the original story had a more epic feel to it than the new damp squib of an episode where the Fireflash landed in the middle of nowhere.

Virgil was the hero of that episode. How dare they ?

Yes. if they want to show this new Kayo character being a bit of a heroine .....put her in some new stories and don't tarnish the older ones. it was obviously done deliberate as the Fireflash is one of the most famous Thunderbird episodes.

they do the same thing with Dr who where they put the more prominent action female and gay stuff in the stories with the best known monsters and the season openers etc. it's about subtle brainwashing of kids.

The bomb wasn't the source of the radiation, the plane's own reactor was. And yes, it is completely absurd that an airliner supposedly advanced enough to stay in the air for months at a time can't delay it's landing for more than a few hours without killing everyone aboard. The original episode was far superior but let's not pretend it was any better in terms of plausibility.

and don't tarnish the older ones.

Just how does giving a female character more prominence "tarnish" the original episode? The original one is still there for you to watch. I assure you it hasn't magically changed.

You seem to be so slavishly devoted to the original series that you seem to think the new version should even keep it's faults. The fact that Tin-Tin was superfluous to the plot of the original episode - she doesn't even appear onscreen during the actual rescue- wasn't a good thing.

it was obviously done deliberate as the Fireflash is one of the most famous Thunderbird episodes.

Yes, clearly it is an evil feminist agenda  to emasculate the male characters. Despite the fact that Kayo isn't even in some episodes, and we've had episodes focused on Scott, Virgil and Alan. It couldn't possibly be because TV has better standards now when it comes to writing women. Or that the original series was often sexist, with it's attitude towards women drivers, Lady Penelope being terrified of mice or Jeff Tracy fretting about sending Tin-Tin on a mission even though he doesn't hesitate to send his own sons.

it's about subtle brainwashing of kids

50% of which are female!!!!!! I'm sure they don't mind being brainwashed into believing that they can be hero(ines) too.

I haven't seen it for years but at least you agree it was superior

That's not what i was saying. i was saying this remake would have been much better if it was more like the original and the crew were trying to land the Fireflash at an airport ...without all the obviously contrived feminist angle.

Nobody's saying there's a feminist agenda to emasculate men in this new Thunderbirds but there obviously is a feminist agenda in this and many other new films and tv series coming out. as i've said the whole Fireflash episode was so contrived so she could take control of the Fireflash and it would have been much better if they'd saved this action heroine's antics for another episode instead of spoiling the Fireflash one. it was obviously done as the Fireflash episode is one of the most famous T Birds episodes ....if not the most famous.

So you admit there's probably a bit of brainwashing going on then? i bet most of the kids watching Thunderbirds will be boys anyway so the subtle brainwashing probably won't affect many females anyway. crap like this is what's ruining tv. it's the same thing with Dr Who where they have rubbish like changing the Master into a woman.

WOW...Just wow at the idiocy contained in this post. There are just no words...did you even read what you wrote. Do you really think that the only view that is important or should be told is one of a Caucasian male in his mid to late 50's.

Wake up. The world has changed. Not literally. Women and people of color have always existed but now corporations are acknowledging their presence. Do you really think that's a bad thing.

Oh and I'm sure the poster will agree that there was brain washing if you can agree that the exclusion of women as anything other than an appendage to a male and people of color period was a type of brain washing. One that clearly worked because here you are somewhere between the age of 50-60 bemoaning the fact that the entitlement and ignorance behind the notion of the white male savior is being dialed back to reflect actual society. Meh, I'm sure you won't get it.

Grampa go each more cheetos and get your afternoon nap. You are such a downer when you miss it.

I think most people would WOW at the idiocy in your post you moron. people aren't saying the show should just be a "Caucasian male in his 50s" thing. they're saying it would have been better if it was more like the original episode where the crew tries to land the plane at an airport and it would have been much more dramatic without the thing with Kayo, which was so obviously contrived [especially the way everyone else was knocked out by the gas] to put the female action heroine in a prominent episode with the famous Fireflash. and i'm afraid to disapoint you but most of the people watching the show will be boys and older men who grew up with the original series.

Give me an effing break. I grew up with the original show and Tin Tin was a very under used secondary character . She was always there to support the Tracy boys, but she hardly did anything and to the best of my memory she didn't know that the Hood is her uncle in the original show. I like the idea of her having an active role as a full team member. It does shake things up a bit and it makes things even more interesting when she came face to face with her uncle. As Grandma Tracy said to her, her secret is safe with her but on day she will need to reveal to the team that The Hood is her uncle. That will be a very interesting episode.
