Couple of questions for the veterans

Firstly, thank you for your service! :)
I considered Marine Corps myself, and still considering applying for the commissioned officer.
I'll use ambiguous "he/him" or "them" as to not be flagged of the spoilers.

Regarding dog tags (identification tags)

1) Don't most of veterans prefer not to wear them?
I have a few friends who are serving/have served in the military, and they don't seem to like to put them on, or keep them after being discharged.

2) I heard of a thing called a "silencer", basically a rubber tubing to make it less noisy and keep metals from touching the skin.
Why didn't he have one?
Also, if i were him, i'd have bitten tags with my mouth so that i am not handicapped as to not be able to use my one hand by holding them.

Legal rights

1) Would you have not only tried to escape but also killed the antagonist(s) in the movie?
What are legal rights?
Firstly, I wouldn't be so inclined to murder a human being (unless i'm threatened).
Secondly, I would be worried about getting in legal trouble.
Would cops be able to take a look at the crime scenes, investigate and conclude that in fact i am the victim?
Even if i were to kill supposedly "perpetrators", are evidences enough to not put me in jail?

About combat situation

1) I train martial arts, combat sports, self-defense (however you call it), and one thing i always keep in mind is to NEVER let my guard down.
If i were him, i would have attacked somewhere like back of the knees, shoulders, wrists, etc (i know the weapon he had, but still) and still would have kept my eyes on my opponent.

Don't armed forces or even self-defense gyms teach not to take the eyes off of the opponent(s)?

Is there a situation where we can take our eyes off of the opponent?
Perhaps it's a movie thing, but i felt it was a critical mistake.

2) Realistically, if you don't have proper clothing (shoes), weapons, and food (lack of rest as well), how likely are you to be able to survive and take them down (possibly killing them)?

As stated, i've been training for a long time and know the differences between the reality and the movies.

Lastly, how would you have approached if you were in his shoes?

I'm curious and there is no need to be disrespectful towards others.
Thank you!
