So they've decided to turn Rusty Nail into a cliche serial killer now?

What is great about the first movie is that Rusty Nail is not exactly a nice guy, but he's a little misunderstood. Two brothers play a prank on him, sending him over the edge and turning him into a vengeful guy, but is was in no way, some sick serial killer who gets off on killing random people. The first movie also, whilst tense, has a sense of humour and fun. It's a suspenseful thriller. In the first movie, he ONLY kills the Ice Truck driver. Also in the first movie, he seems like a normal man who just takes it a little too far. Now in the sequels he is like some sort of malevolent force, almost non human. In the second movie he kills random truck drivers, prostitutes etc. The sequels have lost their sense of fun and now Rusty Nail is basically another superhuman, unkillable psycho. They are now just typical slasher movies. I LOVE slasher movies, but changing the formula from a great, fun, suspenseful thriller to a typical teen slasher is stupid. I hate when sequels change genre.

I wish. IMDB had a "like button"
My only guess is maybe Rusty Nail was always a killer, and that's the logic I should go with because thinking about him, being the only one out of millions of truckers to be messed with numerous times to keep his story going is a little far fetched, unless of course he gets involved with settings not involving a big rig and cb radio.. But then again that would take away completely from the purpose of the Joy Ride series I guess

They say in the first movie that the guy that his jaw was ripped off is still alive but barly we dont know if he makes it or not. Rusty is not a natural serial killer. He showed how far someone will go if a prank was played on him. Kinda teaching them a lesson but not in the right way. Who knows maybe Rusty was having a bad day his wife took the kids he was in no mood to be pranked. The point is he does not go off killing like a brainless serial killer. If he killed anyone in the first movie he never intended too or it was out of rage. I have not seen the second one I own it from buying it at a pawn shop for 2 dollars never watched it but I loved the first one.

This series is like Michael Myers. They don't know if they want him to be just a crazy guy with a high threshold for pain or a supernatural killer like Jason.

Didn't you post this exact same thing on the Joy Ride 2 board?

I recall the immortal words of Socrates when he said, "I drank what?"
