The irony...

In one of the many talking head shots, we hear someone in the band saying (and I'm paraphrasing here) "It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't feel that he has to explain the lyrics to every single song."

Which is ironic, because this film would be slightly less awful if Ricky Gervais didn't feel the need to explain every joke/emotional shift with talking head shots or overly lengthy monologues to the camera.
