Always great.

Yamashita is always great, yeah.

The warmth - which underlies the protagonist - is captured through the lighting and perfectly handled still shots and cinematography. The coldness that her father has been made accustom, through work and a more industrial focus, is also very naturally observed with more glib lighting. The dialogue is very natural and telling with the performances being even more so. The director's mark is everywhere they go and it's yet another fine work in his very underrated catalog.
