Better than I expected (possible spoilers)

It still has some of the flaws of Hallmark movies, but overall it was much better than Uncorked, which is what I thought it was going to be like based on the plot.

The lead actor did a good job showing feelings toward the lead female, something that the lead actor in Uncorked was unable to convey.

The kids were really likeable too. At least if Nikki marries Chris and he doesn't treat her right, she'll have two nice kids to live with.

Below are spoilers about the ending, so don't read if you haven't seen the movie and want to:

Everything was going good in the movie until Chris acted like a jerk at the dinner and pushed her away again. Nikki hadn't done anything wrong at all, so I was pretty pissed at him, and figured it wasn't really about her lifestyle but about feeling guilty because of his first wife who'd died (that's a staple of Hallmark movies: grieving widow/widower feels like they are being unfaithful to their deceased spouse by moving on so they push the new love interest away until they get their epiphany that it's okay/spouse would accept it).

I wanted to smack him up until the end after that, but at least he did actually apologize for being an ass and could actually say the magic words (I love you), something that rarely happens in a Hallmark film.

So overall I'd give this an 8/10, much better than Uncorked by far. Also, appealing cast and characters. I'm pleasantly surprised!

I have to disagree with your reasoning for pushing her away. He was set up by both the agent and her ex boyfriend. He didn't care for all the attention and was concerned about its effect on his family but up to that point, he was willing to try to deal with the attention. It was after the agent and ex boyfriend showed up that he realized continuing a relationship would expose himself and his kids to the people he had just dealt with. There was absolutely nothing to indicate that he was feeling guilty about his deceased wife.

I was more ticked off with Nikki's comment about him blaming her for being successful. That was uncalled for and a really low blow. I don't blame him a bit for getting upset. I do however blame him for walking out on her. He obviously loved her and if he wanted it to work, he should have stayed and told her what he thought would have to change; beginning with getting rid of the agent and making sure the ex never showed up again.

With her popularity I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem after making a few phone calls. It was something she should have done much sooner.

Overall I thought it was a very good movie although the ending was a bit cheesy; almost like they didn't know how to end it so they decided on an incredibly silly and abrupt ending.

I hadn't thought of that. I am so used to these stories about widowers who feel guilty about moving on that I guess that is why I thought he was just using her career and publicity as an excuse to avoid starting anything with her.

The endings of these Hallmark movies are always cheesy like that, very rushed and very little payoff because you just see them possibly get together at the end and that's it. About the only one I liked was Smooch, because you got a little more payoff for the couple at the end.
