Is it me?

Or are all these Hallmark Christmas movies exactly the same movie?

reply

SHHH! You can't say that out loud! What's wrong with you?

reply

YES! They are all the same. You can always count on a "Christmas Miracle" to save the day in each one! This is ??

That is what is nice about them... or at least the reason that I like to watch them every year. You know there will be a happy ending and no (lasting) unhappiness. It's just a nice respite from the rest of the year. I like this type (all "humans") of Christmas movie a bit better than the one where a magical Santa intervenes and changes things, although I'll happily watch those as well at this time of year. Funny thing is I rarely watch this type of movie during the other 10-11 months.

Interesting, and honest response. Thank you.

I just would like a little more creativity on the part of the writers, not every movie has to have the same exact tone, and basic story. Think of all the classic Christmas films -- they're all so different. But Hallmark gives us the same EXACT formula over and over.

I suppose if it's successful, stick with it!

I’d like a little more Christ in my Christmas movies. All the romance, lights, presents, etc., are fine, but why not mix in some deeper truth? If people don’t like it they can stick with celebrating the “holidays”. I celebrate Christmas.

Great question was there ever a Hallmark holiday movie that had a "not happy" ending?

Depending on what you mean by happy, I don't consider "Christmas in Conway" happy. Some seem less cheerful (I think Three Wise Women, maybe". I don't think it is Christmas, but I was disappointed in the Cupid and Cate. Depressing, all the way! I'd rather have a happier end to movies, at least on Hallmark. But, I could use some variety. I liked " Finding Father Christmas." Ending was predictable, but the journey there wasn't. And the new one with Lori Loughlin. (Same predictable end but unsure of how it would happen). Most of them you can predict, down to the lines.

Yes. I used to watch them all the time but it's the exact same every time....even the same actors at times! Boy and girl meet. Boy and girl fall for each other. At the 90 minute mark Boy or girl finds out that boy or girl has been keeping a secret. Spends the next 20 minutes showing them in their woe-is-me state. And then everything ends well for all and is sealed with a kiss and one little tear down the cheek.

They are romance movies with a Christmas themed background.

They are disguised as Christmas movies in order to sell Christmas Cards.
