I don't understand all the negative reviews

I checked this out last night and enjoyed it quite a bit.

People these days are constantly complaining that all we get are sequels and reboots and remakes, and here you have an interesting original film and everyone complains.

I just randomly ran across the movie on Amazon and decided to give it a look and very much enjoyed it. It felt fresh and original and creative to me and was a fun watch.

And yet, I look on Rotten Tomatoes and see that it has a 26% critics' score and 32% audience score.

What gives? This film deserves better than that.
