How bad of a high school is Hester High?

Do these kids ever go to class? When they do go to class, it's some b.s. classes that no school board would ever approve of

reply

It seems terrible, hahaha. But the kids do seem smart. I'm just surprised any of them can manage to get into colleges with how ridiculous their curriculum likely seems to the outside world.

Actress Katie Stevens said in an article once that its a 'running joke' on the set that they never go to any classes or do actual school work. But, its a 20 min episode, do we really need to see them in class?

It's not to be taken too seriously. It's more comical then anything with some of the classes and even activities they have. Plus this isn't the first teen show where the kids are never in class, Gossip Girl comes to mind.

Vampire Diaries too. It became a joke among the fans that one of the lead characters enrolled in college as a pre-med student last season when she was almost never shown in previous seasons going to class or doing homework.

I know I'm a vampire, Snookie.

Agree with these replies...actually the only teen show I can recall where the kids were frequently shown in class or working on homework was Gilmore Girls, where the main character was meant to be an overachiever type who wanted to go to Harvard.

The show itself acknowledges this. It's half the reason for the Principal Turner story arc.

The writers make fun of it, too. When Penelope starts a class on recycling, she tells her students that she's teaching them to have zero impact on the world. The look on Liam's face shows that he realizes there could be a double meaning there.
