Well why don't you then give us some pertinent extra information to help us understand? You know, instead of doing the film a disservice by discouraging foreigners from watching it?

the worst time for sure but not the best time.

the story happened around 1981 and Lu went back home after going through incredible difficulties in the labor camp. If you want to know what a labor camp is like, you can see the book Gulag

i understand feelings. li gong is fantastic. it not only deals with politics, but the illness of amnesia. throughout history, the cruelty of humans against humans is a permanent theme. people who believe for whatever reason that they are better or superior have created this problem. democracy has tried to create a more equal society, and as long as monarchies do not allow humans to be equal, or groups of people who declare that god is guiding their lives and believe they deserved a promised land, we will never be able to overcome our mediocracy.

It's kind a hard to explain in a few words, but it is all about guilt and blocked feelings. She feels guilty but blames her daughter with her mind. Her feelings are neglected and act up psychotically by blocking her mind, not giving her the ability to recognize him, because her feelings feel he's is dead because of her. She betrayed him.
