Infinity Arc: WAY Better!

Wow. Finally, a series that feels like Sailor Moon again.

Animation is so much better; no more ugly 3-D henshins.

Some actual characterization! Rai picking on Usagi a bit, Minako and Makoto being cute and day-dreaming about boys!

And best of all, attack sequences!!!

Toei done good :)

And with splitting the first chapter into two episodes allows for these character moments a bit more which was nice.

I liked the first episode. However, I liked the first episode in Crystal, as well, but it went downhill fast from there. I am cautiosly optimistic, and hope the new season will continue to be good.

I have good faith Crystal is going to be top grade tv from here on out. Not only is the infinity arc one of my favorites, the show itself has gone under a pretty massive rehaul. The animation is vibrant and gorgeous. The writing is better, the characters have more personality, and the fight scenes actually contain conflict. With the most recent ep we finally got to see some back and forth between the senshi and the daimon where as in almost every past Crystal ep once the enemy is introduced and the senshi transform they vanquish the enemy almost immediately which always felt so anticlimactic.

But this new run seems to have a much better handle on the pacing and everything else in general. It's feels like we're finally getting the adaption we deserve. I'm so happy and excited about where Crystal is right now and where it's going. We still have the rest of the wonderful Infinity arc ahead and beyond that the great Super S arc (which I've heard the manga did better than the original anime so just imagine how good it could be with this rehauled Crystal) and STARS, god I can't wait to see how they handle stars. Seiya Kou and the starlights are such great characters.

Don't forget Ami going like "oh dear/sigh" when Usagi disguises herself XD

Yes, it feels like Sailor Moon again, but if I had to rate this series on how it is so far on IMDB, I'd unfortunately give it a 4 due to the first two series being horrendous.

I don't even care about the prior two seasons, I feel like I can just ignore those seasons and just watch the show from here to the end and have it still feel complete without the past eps. That's whats nice about arcs because they're all self contained and you don't NEED knowledge of prior seasons to get them, it helps, but it's not vital.

I agree entirely. I'm counting this arc as the true first season of Sailor Moon Crystal.

I actually think that the Black Moon Arc was well done. The only arc that I have a problem with is the 1st one because they strayed from the manga a bit by having the 4 generals live longer, and then just randomly killing them (if you're going to stray from the manga & have them live longer at least have a very good plot-related reason as to why).

While I doubt that this would actually happen I hope that after they finish the Stars arc that they go back and give seasons 1-2 the same animation style that the Infinity arc has, and also redo season 1 so that it's faithful to the manga.

Some reasons I didn't like the Black Moon arc were the way the Inners were treated, one of them being a huge flaw: why give them power ups if three are going to be captured for half of the arc?

If they re-did seasons 1 and 2, I would be happy. I still think season 3's kinda still sticking a bit too close, I felt the action in episode 5 of Crystal was lackluster, because IMO the fast pacing of it works better in the manga, but not in an anime.
