On one hand if going to war is legal and it is a draft from NZ then
imprisonment could be the answer, at least until the war was over. At
any rate, I would say they were not let off easy at all and it was no
picnic "sitting" out the war. Very sad though.

It's been on UK TV and I watched a copy that someone had recorded from TV One. I don't know if you've managed to see it yet but if not, it's definitely worth checking out.
