Justin is 22 years old and is hanging out, doing drugs and fooling around with a 14 year old. No way he deserved to die, but considering he already has a 3 year old, that's all sorts of skeevy.

I honestly don't think Neemen was wrong although I do share your belief that Justin did not deserve to die. He reacted the way any father would in that situation(minus the hostage situation). I think he could have wounded him to get his point across not KILL him. Also I think he played on the towns racism to prevent hard time in jail but he's human he didn't wanna be in jail for the rest of his life.

This was just teenagers being dumb teenagers - like all teenagers are. If I'd gotten shot at every time I sneaked around smoking weed at friends' houses, i'd be dead many times over.
For me, the bottom line is, those boys were RUNNING AWAY from Neesmith, and posed no danger. He murdered them. I think a case could be made that he is/was mentally challenged, but a year's detention? Christ, this is To Kill a Mockingbird level of injustice.
