I don't know if you know this but Crispin G. is not in BTTF 2! George M. is played by a guy named Jeffrey Weissman in BTTF2. After BTTF Crispin G had problems w/ producers and director. Basically they found him difficult to work with. So for the sequel they didn't call him back. That may be one of the reasons he is not in this documentary. But I think the main reason is that the actor claimed that the producers used footage of him in BTTF 2 without his permission - in addition to using a different actor - so he filed a lawsuit against them. And that lawsuit is in my opinion the main reason he is left out in the documentary.

what i know is crispin = george so u get the point....he should be included....

Tom Wilsom (Biff/Griff/Mad Dog) isn't in it either, but you don't seem to care about that, even though he was a bigger part of the series overall.

reply

All the main actors should be in it.....

reply

Exactly how do you go about making that happen if they don't want to be included?

reply

He wasn't difficult to work with. Bob Gale just hated him so he got replaced. Robert Zemeckis worked again with Crispin Glover in Beowulf. Just watch Crispin Glover - Back to the Future Controversy on Youtube and there is the Interview with Crispin Glover that this Documentary will lack because they are spineless and will only show the positive stuff and ignore other side of the story. If it was a true Documentary they should do the research and tell the true and WHOLE story...

They did use footage of him.

The use of another actor was not the reason for the lawsuit. The reason was that they used molds of his face from the first film and applied it to another actor to make him look like Crispin, which wasn't allowed because they don't have the rights to his likness.

Actually, at the time there hadn't been a ruling about likeness. After Glover filed the lawsuit and they subsequently settle:

The Screen Actors Guild changed its rules to prohibit its members from unauthorized mimicking of other SAG members.

I am surprised you all don't know this already but Crispin, according to the film makers, got too bog for his boots and wanted more money to do part II. He also refused them the abiity to insert scenes he shot for BTTF (and this led to the legal case). They also cited an off-the-wall interview appearance he did (I think it was Letterman or Leno) that seemed to show he had lost the plot. Crispin maintains he was in character for a show he was involved in at the time.

It's a case of who you want to believe.

Bob Gale (the writer) claims Glover wanted more money, they refused and they replaced him.

Glover claims that he disagreed with the ending of BTTF (more money = success & happiness), and Gale wasn't happy, so they replaced him in the sequels.

Both of their stories are floating around (Gale's is on the DVDs, Glover talks about it in numerous interviews around the web), if you want to hear the full versions of each of their stories.

Don't think there's any writer out there with the kind of clout to get a core cast member bounced except Aaron Sorkin. Certainly not the mighty Bob Gale.

reply

Not true. Crispin says he was contacted to be in the film and he wanted to do it, but he had some issues with the script. And he also wasn't satisfied with the pay he was going to get.

Come at the king, you best not miss.

According to Gale he was sent the script but Glover's agent came back asking for the salary that Michael J. Fox was getting. Glover's salary was going to be the same amount as Tom Wilson and Lea Thompson's. The two Bobs knowing that he may not do the film minimized his role in the second film to allow for this, hoping that while the shot everything else for Part II in the mean time Glover would agree. Glover's agent came back after a while and continued to ask for the same salary Fox was getting. With Glover's filming fast approaching Gale made an ultimatum which was every single day Glover didn't commit he would lower the original salary by a hundred or a thousand dollars (can't remember which it was, sorry). After a while Glover with his salary getting lower and lower fired his agent and got a new one, again making the same salary demands the previous agent made. Gale remained firm on his ultimatum and eventually Glover said no he wouldn't do it so at the 11th hour, I think a week before filming they hired Jeffrey Weissman to play the part.
