Similar Movies?

Does anyone have any suggestions for similar movies? I've seen Exam. Either that kind of 'people trapped in the same room' plot, or it can also be a movie with a similar plot, where it's kind of philosophical or blurs the lines of morality, difficult choices, etc. That kind of thing.

I really enjoyed Cube. The sequels are a case of diminishing returns, but the first movie in the trilogy really gripped me.

reply

I'll give that a watch then, thanks. I've heard good things about it, didn't know there were sequels.

reply

House of 9 was similar in the way they had to choose who lives. For some ridiculous amount of money

reply

The sequels to The Cube are also worth it to check out btw.
Not as good as the first one but they all have their pro's.

Zardoz (1974) has spoken!

If you liked this and Exam, you will love Cube. Very much a forerunner to Saw in my opinion.

reply

The 2009 movie The Box, with Cameron Diaz sounds somewhat similar. At least in terms of moral dilemmas and whatnot.

reply

If you mention "The Box" you should also tell the OP to stay away from this bad, boring, and *beep* remake of the fairly good Twilight Zone episode it is based on so that they won't waste any time watching it.

reply

Op asked for similar movies, so I gave them a similar movie.

reply

Which episode? Feasibility Study? It did remind me of that at one point. I've only seen the 90's version though - apparently it was a remake of one of the 60's episodes. It ended up being my favorite episode of the series (or at least the ones I saw). Highly recommended for anybody who liked Circle.

reply

It's called "Button, Button" and I think it's pretty good, although I haven't seen it since its original broadcast back in the eighties.

Nine Dead (2010) - low budget but same kind of premise check it out!

Cube, Would You Rather, The Box and to some degree the Saw films as they all involve characters having to make morally difficult decisions in order to save themselves or to benefit themselves.

El método
The method

also play: el método grönholm :-)

reply

Cube and El método, yes, agree

reply

I mind someone on the forum for Exam (2009) saying it was basically a remake of El método (2005). How appropriate the comparison was I don't know, as I haven't gotten round to El Metodo yet, but Exam is a thriller involving a group in the same room having to outsmart and eliminate each other based on rules that are open to interpretation.

There's a great foreign film kinda in the same vain of Cube and Circle, called Fermat's Room. I really enjoyed it. Worth a look guys.

That is an awesome list, I've actually seen only half of them I think. We'll need to check the others.

Also I'll add to it:

Real Playing Game
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2043971/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

There was also an asian film... forgot the name. It was called something mill.
It was about a bunch of people who go for a game, every day they stay in the game they get money and they start getting killed and everytime a person is killed, they can vote who they think the murderer is. If they are right, they get even more money and regardless, the accused gets trapped.

Anyone remember what it was called?

Oh, almost forgot The Human Race

Try "The Incite Mill" and "Judge" re. Asian films.

reply

Yes! Incite Mill! That's the name I was looking for!

reply

Wait, is Judge based on the Manga? Cause I really liked it and sadly they stopped translating it.

Great list! Made my weekend. Thanks!

Since everyone here suggest american stuff, I just wanna drop some of the best things I've ever seen that's not.

Try to watch the animated show Kaiji. You will not be disappointed with the mind-games. The art-style took some getting used to for me, but it's intense like nothing else. Nerve wrecking once the real terror sinks in.

You can probably find it at kissanime.com
