Why cast Marlee Matlin?

You didn't need a deaf actress to play this part. I found her distracting to the film and would of preferred another actress to play her part.

i agree.. i find her disgusting anyways after her performance on celeb. apprentice and her disgusting roast of donald trump. plus her voice IS distracting. i also think she is a horrible actress. i just dont like her.

aryzap, What "disgusting roast" of Donald Trump did Marlee do?

Gilbert Gottfried was the one that roasted Trump, under the guise of "translating" for Marlee.

Plus, it's a given that a roast is going to be highly insulting of the one(s) being roasted.

What are you looking under here for?

I didn't really understand it but I thought it was nice. I mean how many deaf people do you see in major roles like that? What I didn't like and thought was a bit much was when the guy would make fun of her. It happened like 3 times in the movie. I thought it was overkill and a bit distasteful.

reply

I think it's great that she can still get roles that other actresses can get. Her being deaf shouldn't stop her.

reply

If you think this is a major role you must be off of your rocker.

reply

Maybe because she's just as much of a person as every other actor in Hollywood? Whether you like her acting or like her or not I liked that they had her And they didn't make a big deal out of her being deaf. If people had a problem with it just don't watch the movie

reply

I agree with you, Jeanettem2006. The op really put me off--as if deaf people should only get certain types of roles. Ridiculous.

Yeah, roses, it's horrible that a "deaf" actress was in this Lifetime Movie Network movie. An actress who has won an Oscar; who has been involved in many charities, and who is an inspiration to many generations of sensory-impared individuals seeking to make a way for themselves in this world.

reply

I agree with the last few posters - I think it's great that she is a working actress. If you see she's in a film and you don't like her, don't watch it.
