Where was this film shot?

I wasn't sure, either, especially about footprints in what was supposed to be Egyptian desert, but looked like beach sand.

I did a DuckDuckGo search for "topography of Caracas, Venezuela" and came up with some interesting info, maps and photos. So now I do think it's possible they *could* have done all the filming in that area.
