Dylan's Watch and it Came From

Correct the me if I'm wrong. At some point in the first movie, Dylan said that the watch he wears belonged to his father. He said his father took off his watch and gave it to him right before he locked himself in the safe that was dropped into water so Dylan could count the seconds until he escaped the safe. But in the beginning of Now You See Me 2 before Dylan's father locked himself in the safe they were both wearing a watch and Dylan's father never gave Dylan the watch that was on his wrist before getting in the safe. Is that a movie mistake or goof or am I wrong?
