Hope this has the intended impact

If making this film prevents even one tragedy from happening then it will have been worth it. Unfortunately, given the amount of material that has been produced to prevent drinking and driving and the unending tradition of fatalities and injuries in alcohol-related accidents, this film will probably have limited long term effect.

People are just too dead set on doing what they want, and ready to ignore the possible consequences in order to do it. Most likely phone manufacturers will have to either voluntarily or by regulation build their phones so that they will not display or allow texts to be sent while a car is in motion. People just don't seem to be able to take responsible action without being forced.

You're forgetting one thing- I just started using laser cats again!

That's a good idea. If the accelometer indicates a speed of +15 MPH, the user would be required to take a specific action in order to confirm he is not driving a car. It could work.

I like that idea-- The only problem would be that people ride in cars as passengers & also use public transportation. It would make for a loud train ride if everyone was talking on the phone instead of texting. Ultimately, distracted driving is distracted driving-- that could be eating a burger, turning around to yell at your kid, programming your GPS, or actually talking on the phone. People need to learn that cars are the biggest weapons we will ever be allowed to own-- more dangerous than a loaded gun when used improperly-- and that we should handle them as such.

I reread your post-- I see what you mean now! That could work, people would have to be honest when it asked if they were driving though. Do you have ideas on that?
