How can there be so many morons who seamlessly shell out $30,000-$60,000 to people who they dont even research online to see if they actually have a license or proper experience? Who does this? We arent talking a few hundred bucks here. We're talking good money. The idiots arent the contractors. They're the morons who will pay any schmuck to undertake serious house remodels and not even research their actual qualifications/background. It's not 1985. It's 2015. Anything and everything can be found out about the legitimacy to a "professional" on the internet.

Either this show is fake as hell, or there is even less hope for the human race than I thought.

Seemingly smart people can abandon all sense of logic and reason in certain circumstances. And there seems to be no shortage of suckers.

While elements of the show are undoubtably fake or exaggerated for dramatic purpose, I don't believe that the screwed over homeowners are actors. The show could be called "To Catch a Clue."

So far there have been 20+ people in the LA area, which has a population of over 13 million, and several of them haven't paid 5 figures, but rather paid a low amount for something that should've cost much more. So far we're around 0.0002% of the applicable population, so it's not an absurdly high number.

Who wouldn't notice it?

do you mean the contractor who shows up to the sting house?

the contractor speaks to someone on the phone about setting an appointment for an appraisal, then they put hidden cameras all around the sting house & hide in another area while the contractor comes in the house - then they confront the contractor once inside.

so, up to that point, the contractor couldn't notice or recognize anyone from the show because he hasn't seen them yet up to that point.

These contractors they "expose" get paid a $10,000 appearance fee for their troubles. So sure they're made to look like the douches they are but they do get 10K in exchange for Skip berating them and Adam making jokes of them.
