A Dimwitted Writer Can't Write For A Smart Character

Cisco is alleged to be cosmically intelligent. In the season premiere of The Flash, he walks into a bar where Caitlin--who is also supposed to be beyond a brainiac--is working as a barista, and asks her, "What's a nice girl with two doctorates and a Ph.D. doing in a place like this?"

A Ph.D. IS a doctorate, for fuck's sake! So are other degrees, like Lit.D., J.D. or Ed.D. If Caitlin had a total of three of these, she would hold three doctorates. Caitlin has medical degrees, and I imagine that the illiterate who wrote the script thinks that only an M.D. can be called a doctorate. Anone who has earned a degree with doctor in its title may be addressed as doctor. I'm pretty sure the author of the script is not among them. Sheesh!
