Funny how many shows are like this

Big Lake was about a young banking bigwig who lost a bunch of people's money, including his father's and moved in with his parents.

2 Broke Girls is about a poor young woman who befriends a newly poor former rich socialite daughter of a Bernie Madoff type rich guy swindler.

Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23 was about a young woman who discovered on her first day a new job with a big company that the company was belly-up and she had no job.

How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life) was about a woman who divorced her parents & moved in with her parents while figuring out what to do with her life.

Probably has a lot to do with the ongoing the recession, poor job market, corrupt corporate/banking culture, and the ensuing trend of adults moving in with their parents or living on their own but trying to scrape by. How many other fall-from-grace, welcome-to-reality, slap-in-the-face shows can you name?

What it tells me is, people do not know how to work hard (if that means two or three jobs) and STOP leaving above their means.

I do know people do have hard times (bad things happen to good people) but MOST are just lazy and expect way too much out of life without putting in the work.

There was the horrific "Retired at 35" a couple of years ago, mercifully cancelled: grown son moves in with parent(s) in Florida. And there was the grown son who moved back in with his father in "@hit My Dad Says", also cancelled. Seems a very tired old formula! (In a reverse way, you have Carrie's crazy old father moving in with her and Doug on "King of Queens", lol.)

You're right, it seems to be a common theme in recent sitcoms... that don't really last very long.

I wonder if it's supposed to be a show that people can watch to relate to, or if it's supposed to be a "message". I don't really see this one lasting too long. It seems to be a lot like that one that Sarah Chalke was in from last year.

Yea and they fail because people don't want to be reminded of the reality of their life and because most of these shows have been awful.

...and almost all fail because there is not one sympathetic character. There has to be someone the audience cares alittle bit for. Not in this series...bring back Happily Devorced to TV Land.

I am rather surprised happily divorced was cancelled.

How about Grace Under Fire? Remember that one? Now THAT one was funny, thanks to Brett Butler and Julie White.

"He carries illegal weapons, drives fast cars & wears clothes obviously designed by a homosexual."
