Did they really have to do that with the Stephanie character?

I get that she's supposed to be a bitch but I would never think she would be the type to try to manipulate her husband like that by taking birth control pills. Are they trying to find a way to get rid of her or something? I really hope not she's one of the best things about this show besides Dina.

I don't understand it, either. Stephanie and Dina are my favorite characters, too.

My aunt did the opposite thing to her (now ex) husband. My aunt had a daughter already, and was planning on divorcing her husband (he is a good guy and had no idea). She found out, via her friend's divorce attorney, that with one child, she would get 17% of his income in child support, but.....if she had another child the support would go up to 23%. So she went home that day like nothing ever happened. She had been taking birth control since her daughter was born, because she couldn't handle one kid (even though she had a live in nanny), let alone risk having another. He husband knew about the pills, since she kept them out on a dressing table in their bedroom. She started to continue to take one pill out every morning, and flush it down the toilet. This way, if he looked, nothing would be our of place. Then she got pregnant, and said that she thought she missed taking the pill a few times that month. He was happy, since he wanted a large family, she wanted the money. This, and more, was all caught on the phone tap that he put on the house phone, which is legal since it was his own phone line (this was around 25 years ago, before everyone carried mobile phones). My mom (my aunts sister) told him to do it, and to also hire a private detective, since he had a lot to lose financially in a divorce (two successful businesses where he even owned the buildings they were in, a three story private house in NYC and one in South Hampton, a large art collection, etc.). He made sure that his kids were well taken care of, eventually getting custody. He still takes care of the kids (who are now 29 & 26), while my aunt always looked at the kids as a payday. That was why my mother was more supportive of her brother-in-law, than her own sister, and warned him when she found out what her sister was doing. That's what happens when you meet someone on Memorial Day weekend (around May 30th) and get married on Labor Day (the first weekend in September)!
