Behind the scenes...same ol' Hollywood. But JEEZ...Asian purists...

Listen...as an Asian I’ve spent a majority of my life brushing off the BS that David Carradine and to a lesser degree, Keanu Reeves, are bankable “Asians” needed for an “Asian” movie to succeed in IDIOT Hollywood.

But some racist Hollywood producer insisted they needed to stick their WHITE ass in this movie somehow?

As the LEADING LADY, no less?!

Who were you gonna cast, JENNIFER FRICKIN’ LAWRENCE?

What the hell, white people?

Does it go against your BS rule about “inclusion” or something?!

Whether it does or not doesn’t mean STICK A WHITE GIRL IN THE LEADING ROLE.

Thank you, Kevin Kwan for standing up to them!

But despite this moral victory...my fellow Asians piss and moan about the actors not being FULL-BLOODED Asians???

Ok...Henry Golding(Nick)is half Brit/half Malay.

For f*ck’s sake he spent most of his life in Asia, you purist asshats.

Sonoya Mizuno(Araminta) is half Japanese/half British.

So? Would you prefer it was Scarlett Johansson in the role?

And then you bitch about Gemma Chan’s British accent?

At least her ancestry is unmistakably Asian, you loonies!

Will this lead to more opportunities for Asians in Hollywood?

No.

Because they’re racist.

Be happy the movie was made at all!

And David Carradine had no Asian ancestry whatsoever.

reply

Nobody considered him Asian either.

I'm not sure what the OP is bitching about. Should I complain there are not enough white films being made in Malaysia?

reply

The OP is retarded in his understanding of the difference between ethnicity and nationality. They are not the same thing!

A person like Sonoya Mizuno is ethnically and racially Asian, born in Japan but her nationality is British. British is not a race.

An intelligent person understands that a movie like this is going to cull it's cast primarily from Asian actors from the English speaking world. So?

reply

I wonder how many Chinese Singaporeans are part white, like Golding?

Because at least where I live, white-Asian relationships are so common that it's now rare to see a big Asian family at an Asian restaurant without a white spouse in the group.
