So many grotesque people.

I wonder if Singapore is really filled with so many disgusting people as all this movie portrays. It seems to be as if these Singaporeans are desperately seeking identity while being soaked in the wealth, toys, system and culture of the west. Perhaps that is the point of the movie which makes them so crazy and disgusting.

Stop wondering and get your ass on a plane.

75% of the supporting cast was despicable I agree, but that's everywhere dude. Here in America, we put them in the White House. :)

Money and wealth corrupt. The Rachel character and her Mom are the working class heroes of this film. The rich Singaporeans are decadent, petty, bitter, and/or crazy villains.

I doubt I'd like the filthy rich bastards of any other country much more th jan I like those fictional people.

Yet they aren't working class. They are normal middle class leaning towards the upper middle. I guess most rich are decadent, petty, bitter and crazy villains.

Almost all of the women in this movie were indeed one-dimensional, and inexplicably carried themselves like hoity-toity prostitutes.

reply

Women? The men were absolutely messed up too. But it has become socially acceptable and politically correct for men to behave so badly so they aren't held to as high a standard as women.
