I don't know why I'm drawn to this show

I don't particularly like it. I do like Thom and Lee's relationship and I think they are good parents. But those are very small parts of the show. They alone are not enough to keep me watching. Yet I do. I just feel like there is no point. Every week when it ends I think "What was that episode about?" What is this series about? It's like it is trying to be something but it can't quite get there. Or maybe I just can't quite get it. Am I missing something?

I think the attraction is mostly that the actors are good and commit. Other than that there isn't much of a story and the premises are heavy-handed. The millennials seem to be a common target but the gen-x attitudes of misery and despair are actually more pathetic.
