Refreshing...

A refreshing break from sentimental indies and comic book blockbusters.

It's great to see a contemporary movie where the protagonist is a jerk. Another plus is it's shot well and doesn't look like every other movie out there, as they chose to go with long lenses on 16mm film...

I found Jason Schwartzman to be pretty funny in this. Completely self-centered and a jerk, yes, but he did it well, in a very funny way. Some of his dialog cracked me up.

Woman at his agency "I just want to make sure you've thought this through."
Philip "I absolutely have not. It's an impulsive decision, and I'm very pleased with myself."

I did feel it ran a bit long, but I was okay with that. The narration style reminded me of the Woody Allen movie "Vicky Cristina Barcelona".
