found the sound quality to be noticeably poor also. I've yet to watch past the scene in the diner with Philip's ex because at these two points I noticed that the background noise of the diner drowned out the dialogue:

1. When Philip is complaining about his ex being late I couldn't hear her response. To be fair, I don't think it was that important and it was probably something along the lines of calm down I'm her now can we drop it?

2. Not watching past this scene because I couldn't hear this line may seem petty but I feel that by missing the line I'm missing out on a key indicator of the extent of Philip's misanthropy and his overall character. When his ex says she's found a new flat mate, Philip says something and then his ex says she's been married for 2 years. What does Philip say?

Seriously?

Re-read the title of the film.

Philip asks questions and gets answers ... but he doesn't hear them nor do we. Philip is always right and never wrong so he doesn't really need anybody else's explanations.

By missing the line and thinking there is fault there you are missing a big point of the story. The flaw isn't that of the film ... it is that of Philip.

The film will be hard for others to watch anyway because Philip is so unlikeable. If people want to watch a film with a more likeable protagonist I'd recommend Downfall.

God, what a hilarious response. This can't be real, can it? It's called Listen Up Philip.

That is pretty hilarious (Possibly a glaringly stupid post to provoke a reaction) and it's certainly true of the 1st question. However, if you re-read the OP's post his 2nd question is about what Philip says in the exchange. So unless the title is also implying that Philip should listen to himself, then the OP's 2nd question is valid whereas the 1st one is not.

For the record I watched the film last night and I didn't hear what Philip said there either.
