Only 5 Minutes In . . .

. . . and the jazz and narrator are already getting on my nerves.

Painful to watch and lasted forever.

Horrible. Failed in every way: Characters, Style and Form, Story...

I definitely disagree that it failed in character.

My problem with the narration is that it seemed to contradict what was actually happening. At the beginning we're told Phillip wasn't one to speak his mind and that's exactly what he proceeded to do for the entire film. It also made it seem like his girlfriend had already checked out of their relationship when she was the one that didn't want him to leave, and was ultimately hurt much more by their separation. Then when their relationship is finally over at the end we find out he would never open up to anyone again, as if he wasn't already cold and selfish.

I agree about the film losing track when it jumped between stories.

I'm only watching it for Jason Schwartzman. I will definitely forget tomorrow.
