Show, don't tell

Isn't that the number one rule of filmmaking? Instead, this film relies on a ridiculously obtrusive narrator to tell us what the characters are feeling. Isn't that what actors are for?

And that's entirely aside from how repulsively boorish all the characters are in this flick. It was like having the New Yorker read to you by an npr anchor.
