Has to be the script. Money is never good on an indie film but the stories are always better than big budget movies.
shareHarris Yulin is 76 years old and a long way from enjoying the demand he once had and similarly with Robert Forster who is 73. As for Janeane Garofalo, she's not a big deal and like anyone else, needs to work and pay bills. I am sure these 3 actors could be hired for less than 100 thousand bucks total (yeah for all 3 and that's being generous.)
I have no doubt that Matthew Broderick is friends with the filmmakers and since he's worth 45 million dollars, he can do whatever he wants especially if it only takes a week of his time.
There are plenty of "name" actors willing to take a role in just about any film as long as they get paid what they want. Just look at Eric Roberts filmography.
