the miscarriage at the beginning (spoilers)

One of the things I noticed and haven't seen mentioned yet is that the miscarriage at the beginning is actually caused by Steven Marcato or the devil or dark powers or whatever, correct? When Rosemary and Guy are walking down the hall of the hospital afterwards, you see a dark figure with the cane with the devil head on it. So when exactly did they choose Rosemary? And when did they seduce Guy into letting them use his wife?

At this point, they are still in America and it's her girlfriend that gets them to move to Paris. She also gets Guy the job and the original apartment. This actually made me have reservations about the friend at first because although I thought she was the 'Hutch' character from the original, I wondered about her. They couldn't have possibly predicted that Rosemary and Guy would move to Paris at that point.

I thought this was going to be a clever twist on the original, but it's never explained.

Good points -- I had forgotten that the devil was in the hospital at the time Rosemary had the miscarriage. So, yes, it would seem she'd been 'chosen' prior to that, even. I guess that even though the coven couldn't have predicted that they'd move to Paris, the devil himself somehow 'knew.' It does seem awfully coincidental that the girlfriend talked them into moving and got Guy the job, yet had nothing to do with it. Another thing that I found a little odd about her character is when she mentions that she's slept with guy -- then we hear nothing else about it whatsoever. I was like -- okkkk... so what's the story behind that? lol

I assmued they engineered her miscarriage, kind like killing the baby in The Omen.

Yes, but why? They can't be going around America causing miscarriages for vulnerable men and distraught women hoping they will eventually move to Paris. lol It seems like that should have been explained.

I think they were trying to suggest he owed Mary for cheating on her.

Oh, ghostdeen, I totally agree. What was that about? Why even bring that up if you're not going anywhere with it. I just felt like there was lots of potential that was just left laying there.

I feel like if the devil or dark forces had all this power, why bother with jumping through all these hoops? In the original, their power was limited which is why they wanted the son so badly. In this version, they were far too powerful to even need the son of the devil. Major flaws in my opinion.
