Spoiler Ahead

When the police inspector was talking about former occupants of the apartment where Rosemary and Guy had moved to he mentioned that 2 of the previous tenants were sisters who murdered men, ate some of their flesh and sold the rest. They were eventually caught and hanged. This was supposed to have happened in the 1930's. Just a minor detail but I thought that in France they used the guillotine as the method of capital punishment for those found guilty of murder?

You are correct. Guillotine and firing squad were the only methods in France. No hangings. Incidentally, in the book and original film, the Trench sisters ate children.
