i know nothing about cycling and i didnt understand one thing about movie which they were refering about every 5 minute how exactly lance's team friends helped him to win literally in scenes they were saying help him the go finish or top and your only job is protect him
if he drive fast he wins isnt it that simple ?

It's not about who rides faster, but who has more resistance. Cycling stages can go for longer than 200 km., which implies a lot ot energy consumption. Teammates 'protect' the leader by covering him from the wind and setting the pace for him. Then, when the crucial moment of the race comes up, the leader tries to disengage from the group and go for the victory.

There's way more strategy than what it seems, and yes, having good riders as teammates goes a long way.

There are other factors too. The other riders on the team can bring him water bottles, be there if his bike has a problem, etc.

Cycling is very much a team sport, but where the leader gets all the glory!
