Amazing Film + the Ultimate Oscar Snub

Just saw it and it's pretty amazing! I was waiting to see it since principal photography started and it was really worth the wait.
Really good direction, phenomenal performances and extremely good score, sound, production design not to mention the screenplay. I can't believe that Suffragette didn't get any major awards nominations but above all I'm extremely angry with Carey Mulligan's Oscar snub. She didn't only deserved to get nominated but I could have seen a pretty fair win for her too. Maud Watts was her best ever performance, she nailed the part as no one else could have done. I have seen her entire filmography because she's one of my favourite actresses and I have to say that her performance was even better than her Oscar nominated role as Jenny in An Education....not to mention that An Education is one of my favourite films. Gongrats to the Academy for snubing one of the recent best female performances of the decade !!!

*Last seen Suffragette 8.5 to 9 !!!!!!

I'm glad you liked the film but I felt disappointed. The history of the suffragettes was interesting though and that part I got but the rest of the story itself sort of fell flat for me.

I didn't like the film overall as much as you (7/10 from me) but I agree with you 100% re: Carey Mulligan's performance. It was a crime that she didn't win -- or even get nominated for -- best actress.

I also agree Carey Mulligan's performance was outstanding and deserved consideration for an Academy Award. The growth and development of Maud throughout the film should have been acknowledged.

What? Just as the growth and development of the feminist movement, which for some reason has been seen as some big massive epic struggle of staggering proportions?

I have to disagree with you. In the simplest terms, this movie was just kind of boring. The suffrage movement is fascinating and deserved a movie that did it justice. I believe in women's rights and have voted in every election since I turned 18. I thank these women and of course the suffragettes in the U.S. who fought for women's rights and made it possible for me to vote. I also love Carey Mulligan. I thought she was excellent in An Education. Her performance in that film is one that I think of when I think of great performances. I will not think of her in Suffragette. I won't think of Suffragette at all sadly. It had the potential to be good. It should have been good. It just wasn't. I rated it a 4.

What exactly was "boring" about this movie? You must have been asleep when they were blowing up stuff in it. Seriously, I have to question some people's idea of what "boring" is when it comes to films. Anybody who thinks this film was boring must have simply slept through it, that's all I can say, because it was a pretty good film.
