Human Contact in Appropriate Behavior

There’s a lot of hand shaking in Appropriate Behavior. Often, in film, the shaking of hands lingers to represent a business transaction or romance. Behavior uses both of these techniques, but the contact mostly stands out for how often strangers, meeting, greet each other. There’s nothing unusual in and of itself for this; people shake hands all the time. But when compared with the other forms of human contact on display in the film, Akhavan ends up painting a scope of interaction from the mundane to the intimate.
