But one of the complaints I had about it and one of the reasons why I don't think Adonis is as compelling as a character as Rocky was is because Rocky came from poverty and was a low life and that was one reasons why his character and his journey were so interesting and engaging. Adonis grew up in privilege and had a high paying job and because of that it doesn't really feel like too much is on the line nor does it give us as big of a reason to sympathize and connect with Adonis as it did with Rocky. Sure Adonis had it rough for the first 12 or so years of his life but he had a pretty privileged life after Creed's wife took him in which again doesn't make him very relatable. Just my take but both Rocky (1976) and Creed (2015) are films that I really enjoy, just Rocky is better.

Yep you got me. My detailed analysis was just a distraction from the fact that I only care about the characters skin color.

Yeah seriously and another thing I don’t get is if he wants to get out from his father’s shadow why doesn’t he try being good at something that isn’t boxing? Because A) There isn’t any reason to fight (he has plenty of money) and B) Fighting will literally cause society to compare him to his father even more.
