Did we really need to find out who won the 3rd fight?

That just seemed unnecessary, it was fine leaving it a mystery. I thought they was gonna leave it a mystery when Rocky told him "Thats kind of a secret" but then he just blurted it out "Oh Apollo won".... I just didn't see the point of that being in the film.

It was never a good mystery anyway. How can there even be a winner in such a fight? Who's keeping score? Who's timing the rounds? Who's enforcing the rules? If someone was knocked out then there would be an obvious winner, but are two close friends really going to try to knock each other out? No cut man, no emergency medical crew standing by; to go at each other hard would be foolish. It would have just been a friendly sparring session, and "winning" is a meaningless concept in that context.

You think too much about the logic... This is what we call "movie logic". These kind of absurd plot divices are all around most movies.

Maybe he was just polite and didn't want to tell Creed that he beat up his father badly.

I thought the same. I didn't get the feeling he was really telling the truth.

I always thought they knocked each other out and were both in comas for 4 years. That's why Rocky is in 1985 when he gets home and his son is 4 years older....
