Awfull circle-jerk

This must be the most clear example of a paid documentary that I have ever seen. What is the point of this "documentary"? Apart from having celebrities gush of how Shep Gordon is the greatest person ever?

How about a little critical look at how he seemed to push drugs on his clients, and ruined several careers, as stated briefly.

Well, it's not so much an in depth documentary but rather a showcase for Shep. A sort of love letter to Shep from his friend Mike Myers. It's entertaining enough but I admit I got somewhat bored towards the end. If it was 30 minutes or so it would've been better. It drags out like an infomercial but it's obvious Mike really sees Shep as a friend. And made this as sort of a tribute to his best buddy. I guess one would have to be in their inner circle to truly appreciate it. Ironic, that contrary to Shep's motto, this documentary is all about him.

NNY, that's how I saw it also.

Being a longtime Alice Cooper fan, I loved the early days stories.

reply

I like Alice Cooper but was horrified at what happened to those chickens that he threw to the crowd. If PETA was around back then & social media, man, the hell they would have paid.

reply

The good old days when one dead chicken can make careers are over.

Its like Ozzy with the bat.

reply

Well, it was only one chicken, and now it is famous for eternity. Besides, it would have been dead by now anyway.

reply

I loved the early Alice Cooper stories also, as well as the footage.

On the opposite side of the coin, I found the Teddy Pendergrass segment very wrenching.

I started watching it but stopped soon after because it seemed like a circle-jerk. Also, am I recalling correctly that this guy was a giant pervert? Or was that another "documentary" that I turned off? I mean, be a pervert if you like, but I don't wanna watch it.

Came here to read about the film because it was discussed in a meditation context, of all things, that the guy was very Zen and a friend of the Dalai Lama. Well, the DL is very accepting, from what I know. But you don't get any credz from association with him.

I just find it baffling that anyone would describe such a seemingly slimy person as 'very zen.'

I agree with you TG, that I'd rather have seen an actual documentary that looks at the "bad" things he did, as well. Whoever he is.
